Our 2019 Walk was a great success!
Thank you to all who gave of their time, talents, and donations to our walk at Payne Park. We had a record number of people walking to increase awareness about violence against women. We also bypassed our goal for this event and with your help, raised more than $16,500 to support UN Women programs for women and girls around the globe.

A warm thank you to those local agencies and organizations that work to better the lives of women and girls. Joining us in this effort were:

  • Dining For Women
  • Manatee Habitat for Humanity
  • Zonta
  • Girl Up! (teams from Lakewood Ranch and Riverview high schools)
  • Manatee League of Women Voters
  • Selah Freedom
  • Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida
  • Sarasota Police Department
  • Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center (SPARCC)

Thank you to Image Lab Inspired Photography, Sarasota, for generously capturing The Walk and for your participation in our event: photo.imagelabproductions.com

Each year, the Gulf Coast Chapter UN Women USA for UN Women walks to raise awareness about violence against women
- and to raise funds for programs to combat the problem.

Why do we walk?

Because women and girls continue to be harmed and exploited. Worldwide, 35% of women experience physical and/or sexual intimate violence during their lifetime. That's more than one third of all women!
