WE Walk: Strides Against Violence
National Walk Organized by UN Women USA
October 1 – December 10, 2021
Join UN Women USA for WE Walk: Strides Against Violence, our first-ever national virtual walk during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. The Gulf Coast Chapter has held an annual walk for 15 years – this year, for the first time, we are joining with our Chapters throughout the USA. Be part of this all-inclusive effort: we invite all genders, all generations, all nationalities and all abilities to participate and support this critical and positive effort. Make friends, grow your knowledge, and take strides to end violence against women and girls worldwide.
One in three women worldwide, around 736 million, are subjected to physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner or sexual violence from a non-partner.
Let’s move the needle and change that statistic. Join WE Walk: Strides Against Violence to increase awareness and support UN Women's work that prevents violence against women, needed now more than ever in the wake of the global pandemic.

What is a Virtual Walk?
If you joined us last year, you already know! We walked from all over and yet were united in effort. We want to encourage you to get moving to end violence in any way that is meaningful for you - and to get your friends and colleagues to join or support you. That might mean one big walk together, or a solo walk each day. You can participate inside, or outside - alone, or together. You’ll be helping to raise awareness about the root causes of gender-based violence, adding momentum to our cause! And you'll have an opportunity to reach out to friends and family and colleagues, encouraging them to participate or donate and learn more about the real root causes of violence.
When you sign up to participate in WE Walk, you'll get your own online page to post your goals and show your progress. After you've set your fundraising target, tell the world: share your link with your network and invite them to donate to you, or perhaps even join and start their own WE Walk page. On social media, share your pics and tag #walk4women #stridesagainstviolence.
Help our Chapter, our National effort, and help reduce gender-based violence.
